Young conductor Lucía Zicos has developed a reputation for exciting and energized performances.
She was the Principal Conductor of the Symphonic Band of Buenos Aires in the 2011 Season.
She was chosen to participate in the "London Masterclass" (Royal Academy of music, England) with Benjamin Zander (Boston Philarmonic) in 2011.
After being awarded with the first prize at the “La Boheme Opera Competition” (San Juan Opera House-Argentina) she has conducted “Pagliacci” (Leoncavallo), “Cavalleria Rusticana” (Mascagni), “Carmina Burana” (Orff), “La Boheme” (Puccini), “Barber of Seville” (Rossini) and “Il Trovatore” (Verdi) for this company.
Lucía Zicos served as Assistant Conductor to the most important Opera House in South America, the Teatro Colón. She worked with the “Buenos Aires Philarmonic Orchestra” (“Serrat Sinfónico” and “Las notas no se notan”), as well as with the “Academic Orchestra” as musical coach and guest conductor (symphonic, operatic and ballet performances with Teatro Colón´s soloists). She has also performed as Principal conductor of the “Academic Orchestra Chamber Ensemble”.
She has develop an opera conducting program under the direction of Maestro Milen Nachev (Sofia Opera Theatre, Bulgaria) where she conducted “La Boheme” (Puccini), “Cosi fan tutte” (Mozart), “Il Trovatore” and “Aida” (Verdi). Because of her conducting skills, she was chosen as assistant conductor in the International Summer Opera Festival (2005-2006 / Czech Republic) with the Hradec Kralove Philarmonic Orchestra where she performed “Il Trovatore” (G.Verdi).
She conducted Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) and Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) at Dartington International Summer School (England).
As a guest conductor, she has performed with orchestras throughout Europe and South America. Her guest engagements have included “Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestra”, “North Bohemian Orchestra” (Czech Republic), “Bourgas Philharmonic Orchestra” (Bulgaria), “Carlos Chavez Orchestra” (Mexico), " Symphony Orchestra of Matanzas (Cuba), Symphony Orchestra of Rosario (Santa Fe), Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cuyo (Mendoza),"Symphony Orchestra of San Juan University", and "Mar del Plata Symphony Orchestra" (Buenos Aires).
She has been invited to participate in major courses and competitions in which she has conducted the "Orchestra of São Paulo State (OSESP-Brazil), "Symphony of Concepcion (Chile), "Carlos Chavez Symphony (Mexico), “Orchestra of Cadaqués” (Spain).
She is currently a Conducting faculty member at the Catholic University of Argentina and Ensemble conductor in “Isla Verde Bronces” International Brass Festival (Córdoba, Argentina)
Born in Buenos Aires, she graduated with honors with a degree in Choral and Orchestral conducting from the University in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed her studies with important and recognized maestros as such as Thuring Bräm (Conservatory of Lucerne, Switzerland), Tomas Koutnik (Music Academy in Prague, Czech Republic), Gunther Schuller (Germany), Diego Masson (France) and Charles Dutoit (Switzerland).
